I. What does “personal data” mean
Personal data means any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person, e.g. your name, address, telephone number, email address or date of birth. Non-personal data, on the other hand, are information that cannot be connected to a natural person, e.g. the number of users visiting our website or any other kind of aggregated information.
II. What data we collect
In order to operate Knowledge Unlatched, we need to collect and process certain data, including personal data. The type of data we collect depends on what services you are accessing and using, as explained below.
1. Visiting our website
When you visit our website, we will collect and store data in the following ways:
1.1 Log files
Whenever our website is visited, our web servers automatically collect and store certain information in what is known as log files. A log file contains the following information: the requested URL, timing and sometimes additional information or errors from the server.
We and our partners use various technologies to collect and store information when you visit our website and use our service. This may especially include cookies (small text files stored locally via your browser on your device) or similar technologies to identify your browser or your device.

2. Contacting us
When you get directly in touch with us via our general contact channels, e.g. via email or Intercom, we will collect and store the data (including personal data) you provide us with during the communication in order to adequately respond to, and further manage, your request. In particular, this may, as applicable, apply to your email address, your name, your query including the information embodied in it.
3. Registering and logging in
If you enter into a contract with us and/or register as a user on our website, we collect and store all data (including personal data), that have been provided by yourself during the registration process and/or under the contractual agreement. This data may, in particular, include your name and email address.
III. How we use data we collect and store
We use personal data provided by our users and/or customers only in order to provide our services, for contractual purposes and for responding to our users’ enquiries. When you contact us, we keep a record of your communication with us in order to help solve the respective issue. For example, we use your email address to send you your registration confirmation (via a double opt-in method) as well as to later contact you about matters concerning your user account and/or with regard to contractual matters.
We will not disclose or share personal data with third parties, except our agents and sub-contractors who assist us in running our business, including the website, or provide related services, and who are subject to appropriate security and confidentiality obligations; group companies on a confidential basis for our internal administrative, billing and other business purposes; in the event that the whole or a substantial part of our business is sold to or integrated with another business, with our advisers and any prospective purchasers (and their advisers); in such other circumstances for which you have given your consent; if and to the extent necessary for the performance of the contract we have with you or in order to enforce any claims we are entitled to; if we are required by law or ordered by a court to disclose such information.
If you register to receive our email newsletter the name and the email address you provide when registering will be used for sending you the newsletter (see below). Our newsletter will not advertise third party services, but, given that it is the purpose of our newsletter to inform you about Knowledge Unlatched and all things related to it, one may consider the newsletter to be an advertisement for our service. You may unsubscribe and thereby withdraw your consent at any time by using the respective link at the bottom of each newsletter or by contacting us directly. In the latter case, please use the contact details provided in section V. below.
We use the newsletter provider Sendgrid to maintain our subscriber list and send out the newsletters. Sendgrid is operated by The Rocket Science Group, LLC, Atlanta, GA 30318, U.S.A. Your email address will be transmitted to, and used by, Sendgrid for these purposes. Sendgrid offers tools to analyse certain indicators in relation to our newsletter (e.g. on conversion rates, click-outs etc.) that allow us to better understand if our newsletter works for our subscribers. These analyses are group-related and not used for individual evaluation. V. Your rights of access
Upon your request we will provide you with confirmation as to whether or not personal data relating to you are being processed and information at least as to the purposes of the processing, the categories of data concerned, and the recipients or categories of recipients to whom the data are disclosed; and/or information on the personal data undergoing processing, and of any available information as to their source.
Further, we will, upon your request, rectify, erase or block all or part of your personal data if the data or, as the case may be, the processing of the data do not comply with the applicably statutory provisions, in particular because of the incomplete or inaccurate nature of the data; and/or notify any third parties to whom your personal data have been disclosed of any rectification, erasure or blocking carried out in compliance with the preceding paragraph, unless this proves impossible or involves a disproportionate effort on our part. VI. Data Controller
Knowledge Unlatched processes Personal Data both as a Processor and as a Controller, as defined in the Directive and the GDPR. Knowledge Unlatched which you enter an agreement with when using Knowledge Unlatched’s platform, will be the controller for data collected under section II.
